Upcoming Foreclosures

Is the federal government to blame for everything?

Such as: home foreclosures environment wars racism sexism high oil prices? Are we, as citizens, not to blame for anything?

Public Comments

  1. Yes, we as citizen are. We are the ones who elect the bozos, from both parties, who run the Federal Government. Even worse, we keep on reelecting the same old bozos time and time again.
  2. The Federal Government is responsible because IRRESPONSIBLE people signed loan papers without reading them? WOW..... what's next, Federal Government responsible for black people committing crimes at a disproportional higher rate?
  3. I think its both. For example, I think the federal government has enough power to excercise and should be using good judgement with the decisions they make. One of the reasons why the U.S. is suffering so much in many different ways is because there is corruption in high places in the government. Remember the Attorney General, Chavez? He stepped down because he commited fraud of some sort. I say that to say that yes the federal government is responsible for things that go right or wrong. Else why would federal employees and those who hold those positions be regarded so highly? I also believe we as citizens are responsible for how our country is run. Think about it, we have a democracy which means we have a choice in who gets in. I think many who voted for Bush the last 8 years voted in the wrong direction, because look where it has gotten us. So its on both sides. The government is responsible because they were given the power to make key decisions. We are responsbile because we can decide who gets into office.
  4. The only thing on that list that the Federal Government has any authority over (per the US Constitution) is war. Congress must approve it and then the president runs it. However, Congress must also fund it. All the other things would be under the jurisdiction of either the individual States or, if the States do not take ownership of them, the individuals in those States.
  5. as citizens of the untied states of america we have certain duties. for example if we were to read the declaration of independence it would read "..it is the right of the people to alter or abolish the gov't" it says its our duty to do so, we have to say enough is enough, just like the colonists did and just like the south did
  6. No, those who voted for these people are. No one else. And judging from your list, or high oil prices, environment, home foreclosures, sexism, I would say that CA by its' self bares most of the blame.
  7. Foreclosures are the result of the market cycle & new financial tools that we hadn't yet learned our lesson about. This will never happen again for the same reasons as this time. High oil prices will pass short term but long term they will be very high. It's our fault for being dependent upon them & for not seeing that living how we do is unsustainable. The enviornment thing is a slow & perpetual process. In some aspects we can help & in others we can't. Wars won't go away forever. Racism & Sexism won't go away completely but if we do our part & teach our children better & if they do the same it may nearly disappear.
  8. We, the citizens, are responsible for most of the problems both individually and as a group. We put up with the political system that rewards people by spending, that encourages fighting amongst each other to show power, and that allows politicians to scare us into believing anything that they say. Most of the foreclosures are due to people wanting a bigger home whether they can afford it or not. But the government's role is to protect their citizens even from stupidity. We have elected them to an office because they are supposedly smarter than we are and will look at the whole picture rather than our own needs. It is when they put things in a different perspective and we as citizens can't handle the situation or force them to correct the problem.
  9. home foreclosures were caused by people over extending themselves and banks happy to give them loans with variable rates which were bound to increase with time. The gov. didn't cause that one imo. racism and sexism i believe stems from ignorance...and our federal schools do a poor job of educating the young. So although somewhat human nature...the gov could better educate...but they don't. Environment-Big business causes the majority...not only by polluting, but also b/c they don't have any incentive to produce eco friendly products as they will cost more to produce. high oil prices. Oil prices are are dictated by the free market, so as such is not a government fault. Until you understand that our current administration has allowed the value of the dollar to drop to ALL TIME LOWS...which means that our dollars will not buy as much foreign oil (or other products)...so we "feel" the increase in our pocket books. So yes, our government is largely to blame for the current crisis. The current "wars", although never legally declared even though we have been spending billions for over 4 years, is directly caused by our governement...the current administration is to blame, as well as the entire governmental system, as the constitution was based on a system of checks and balances which somehow now-a-days neither check power nor balance it. The current administration has repeatedly lied, taken our civil liberties (patriot act for example), and acted without approval as stated in the constitution (declaring wars)...That is why bush and cheney deseradly so should be impeached. Our current media propoganda and government not only constantly brainwashes us to make the decisions they want us to make (ie the lies to get us to war...and the lack of media attention to a pres. candidate like ron paul who will end the bloodshed.) Also not to be left out are pharmaceutical companies that are making billions by getting us addicted to brain altering substances (anti-depressants ect.), which leave the average joe "dazed and confused". So we are not as much to blame..and is why most citizens of other countries don't hate us..they loath our government.
  10. You can blame the Jesuit order of the Vatican, which has infiltrated and controlled fourteenth amendment America since the civil war. Do the research.
  11. It is quite chic to bame the federal government and espcially GW! As for citizens, I am innocent. :)
