Explain to me why Communism is bad?

It seems the US government has demonized Communism and instilled a hatred of it to people who do not have a full understanding of what Communism is. They just "know" Communism is bad. It seems to me the Communist/Socialist system evens out everything. Under a Capitalist society, people will be left behind. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. If you ask me, Capitalism is more evil than Communism. Look at the housing market in the US now. People are losing their homes to foreclosure.

  1. IT is said that Communism in it's perfect state would be no different than Democracy in it's perfect state, with respect to how the masses feel.
  2. Communism is socialism imposed by force and excludes capitalism. This is almost as bad a Fascism, which gives power to capitalists, and suppresses all forms of socialism. I am happy to live in a democracy, were capitalism and socialism coexist in a balance determined by a somewhat contentious consensus.
  3. Communism eliminates freedom and it eliminates progress. The most base human need is for the ability to improve your own lot in life. It is why we work. Under communism, you don't have the power to improve your lot in life. Whatever you do, thats what you do. Whatever everyone else is getting, thats what you get. If you work hard and do your best, you receive nothing for it. That is wrong, and it doesn't work. Thats why communism failed in the USSR and will fail in China as well. Under capitalism, people get what they deserve, because they get what they EARN. It is the ONLY FAIR economic system.
  4. Communism fails every where it has been tried, and the leadership gets rich off the backs of the Masses. Castro ain't a welfare recipient. Neither is your pal Hugo "Changing the constitution" Chavez
  5. Have you ever heard the term "equally distributed misery?" That phrase was coined because of the unintended consequences of socialism and communism. Capitalism is not more evil than socialism and communism, because it inspires people to do the best they can in order to advance their situation. The people who get "left behind" are often simply lazy and have no wish to help themselves; said people are also often the most ardent supporters of a socialist state, in which they have no need and thus no incentive to take care of themselves. Edit: Oh, how I love thumbs-downs. They usually mean I'm right, but people don't like that minor detail.
  6. Because communism is anti-freedom. It takes the concept that the society is more important then any ones individual rights. Basically the communist society could take away any ones rights if the "majority" determined that it was needed for the "good" of everyone And the fact remains that some people are smarter then other people , some are stronger then others...we are not all the same.
  7. If communism is done right i dont see any thing wrong with it for certain countries! I am not a communist but it is an idea with good intentions. (I dont like to see any one starving; do you?)I believe in CAPITALISM now more the ever for the U.S. Im tired of being forced to give out handouts(taxes) to people that... A. Are illegal freakin aliens B. Dumb girls who have children and don't even know their babies daddy C. Take away $ from the sick and elderly by (A+B) The American Dream was to work hard and earn your assets!!!!! I don't believe the U.S. to be a democracy. Its actually would be communist if a f*cking libs in office. definition of communism http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04179a.html definition of democracy http://m-w.com/dictionary/democracy
  8. Communism in it's purest form as socialism would be a good idea. Communism, however, in it's corrupted state is oppression in an extreme form. The elite are rich through bribes, the poor have nothing and the rebellious die.
  9. Individual effort is not rewarded; ergo, a slug gets the same benefits as someone who busts their backside.
  10. because it was funded by Wall street- how could it be good! http://www.amazon.com/Street-Bolshevik-Revolution-Antony-Sutton/dp/089968324X
  11. Would you like living in North Korea, Cuba, or China, or in any of the former Iron Curtain nations when they were communist? Communism has killed more people than 100 Hitlers ever could. Mao killed 40 million. Stalin killed 30 million Pol Pot killed 2 to 3 million Castro killed 300,000 North Korea killed 10 million Not to mention, communism takes away all human rights. You are not even allowed to insult your "leader" or you are killed or jailed.
  12. People are loosing their homes because they are buying way beyond their means. I can't go out and buy Bill Gates' house because I can't afford it. I'm not a drone bee and you're not in my hive. Why should I take care of you? Take care of yourself. Communism is supposed to be all the same. That's funny, I remember there were some very rich communists in Russia, DPRK, China, Cuba. How's that possible? I guess I'm all for communism as long as I'm in charge. Will you go for that?
  13. Funny, communism was supposed to be a great equalizer, but there is still 3 levels of society. The totaltarian government, their rich friends and toadies and then the worker bees who get to do all the work, yet still get the shaft. Do you think the millions of people dying from environmental issues in China think communism is great? Have the thousands of Cubans that have risked death, the ocean & the Coast Guard, just to get a chance to become American, think it's great? Do you think the MILLIONS that Stalin/Lenin allowed to STARVE AND FREEZE TO DEATH, while the government and it's toadies feasted on cavier by their roaring fires, think it's great? People are losing their jobs and their homes yes. But in communist countries the government CHOOSES who gets to work, who gets to eat and who gets a home. That is somehow BETTER? Our government is unable to take care of ANY thing for the average American, yet you think giving them MORE power would help?
  14. The fact that it has to be explained to you is further evidence that our school system is a complete failure. Communism as a philosophy is not bad. A family is a communist organization. Some people bring resources in and some don't. But all resources are community property and everyone has equal access to them. However, this only works because of strong family ties and everyone is a willing participant. Where communism is a problem is when it is forced on a community, by a government for example. In this scenario, resources are shared, not out of love, charity, and goodwill, but under threat of force by the government. And taking a person's property by force, no matter your intentions, is stealing. "The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer" in a capitalist society is nonsense. The rich get what they earn, and the poor get what they earn. This is perfectly fair. Many rich people go broke, and many poor people get rich. Each receives according to what they earn. Capitalism is about freedom. If you are not free to fail, then you are not free. Socialism and forced communism is about opression. You are not free to fail, but you are not free to succeed either. Nobody wants people to starve to death in the streets. There are tens of thousands of charities and private organizations to help people. People are mostly decent and caring. There is no need for a government to steal from some people to give to others. Despite the intentions, it is still stealing. Two wrongs do not make a right.
  15. Communism as a concept can seem rather benign. In reality, history has taught us that communism tends to breed despotism. Josef Stalin is probably the poster child for why "communism" is bad. I would wager there are few thousand political refugees from Cuba living in Florida right now that can answer this question with more authority than I can. China is no longer a communist state. It is a bizarre hybrid of single-party statehood mixed with a hyper-capitalist economy. Russia is no longer a communist state, but is slowly drifting back into a rather autocratic state. The economic plight of your average citizen in the USSR was nothing to crow about, and was far worse than most of the economic challenges we face in the USA. Capitalist systems have weaknesses to. Poland isn't really getting a fair deal with the EU right now. Still, the country's outlook is much brigther now than it was before they were under the thumb of a communist regime. Communism demonizes itself, it doesn't require the hyperbole used by the Americans in the 1950'. It is a diminishing political construct, and produced much more failure than success, especially in its two greatest advocates: China and Russia.
  16. It is not a question of whether Communism is good or bad it is all about whether the politicians in the White House approve of the regime in a particular country or not. They make no comment about China as they suit their purpose at the present time.
  17. Look at any communist country. The standard of living is poor at best. Capitalism puts YOU in charge of your life. If you fail, it's your problem. Communism only appeals to the idealistic, the young, the brainwashed, and the stupid. Oh and the lazy.
  18. Why is everyone trying to get into the U.S. rather than flocking to China?
  19. Socialism cannot exist along side individual liberty. So freedom is out the window. Socialism steals from the people who work and gives the money to the lazy class who does not work. Soon the working people catch on and stop working and join the lazy class. Then there is no more money so the system collapses. That is happening in the USA now. The people who are loosing their homes would never have been able to own a home at all under communism. No one can own anything of their own under communism. The government owns everything. Is that what you want? Who signed those loan papers anyway? Most of those people are yuppies living beyond their means. I don't feel sorry for them at all. You are falling for the leftist propaganda spewed out by the anti America media.
  20. Well, first it should be known that the term "communist country" is an oxymoron. Communism in its nature does not believe nor promote borders, government, or the use of a monetary unite. A large misconception is that communism is undemocratic, but in reality, it is democracy in its purest form. Communism does not redistribute money, for it does not believe that the use of money is necessary, nor does it believe in production for profit. It should also be noted that communism has never been attempted, and each country thus far who has considered themselves communist, have been state-capitalist dictatorships (in essence, it was/is as though a large, single corporation owned and controlled everything). I cannot, however, answer your question, because communism is not bad, it has only been made to look bad by those who currently hold power, and desire to maintain their grasp on that power.
  21. Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism. Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds). Actual economics is the persons paying the monthly business loan payments of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for. Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies. Anti-democracy republicanism is the psychology of imaginary parents, and false government.
  22. First of all communism refers to any of several forms of socialism characterised by 1. free access to the means of production 2. free access to produced goods and 3. the abolition of currency, rationing, and other such systems. There are massive disagreements within socialism. For the anarchocommunists, communism represents the immediate goal. For the Marxists, communism represents an eventual goal, after the "withering away of the state." Hard-line Marxist groups described their parties as Communist (referring to their eventual goal), and their regimes as Socialist, or Soviet Socialist, or People's Democratic (because they were definitely *not* communist). For both traditions, there is no such thing, and can be no such thing, as a communist state. For other socialists, communism isn't the goal at all. Some, such as Proudhon, have sought stateless market societies. Some seek social-democratic states with greater or lesser market elements. Now most of the "arguments against communism" are actually arguments against central planning and state-run or mixed economies. And most of the same calculational arguments come from communist sources as from pro-market ones!
