Why vote for the Repub when the Economy has hit rock bottom, does that not reflect the Government?
I live in Orlando"no.1 tourist spot" in America and I work in an attraction park,it has become a Ghost town, the vacancy report in my hotel is 70% for Easter,...last year it was Sold OUT in Jan.! The stock market went down over 350 points last week, it took a crash same as after 9/11 and the dollar has reached a new low yesterday, and will continue to decline according to economics on Cnn ! On my block which is in a decent neighborhood, 7 houses are in foreclosure, and the car lots are filled up with re-possessed cars! What next? Sorry we were in surplus in the Clinton years, !

- markets operate in cycles, this is the downside of the cycle. if you elect democrats into the house, senate, AND presidency this will be just the beginning...
- The stock market has actually been on a tear the last few years, but has hit a down cycle. This always happens, as long as it turns around relatively soon-next few months-we'll be alright there. Regarding the housing: I have to fault the homeowners for most foreclosures. These people should know what they can and cannot afford and that signing ARM's is not a good idea. Where the fault lies with gvt. is in Dems lap. This is something that has not been widely circulated, but Reed and Pelosi asked mortgage companies to ease their guidelines/restrictions to allow peole to buy bigger houses. When the mortgage cos did that we saw the gigantic boom of a year or so back. Now the public is reaping their poor choices. Regarding the travel/tourism issue: I'm not sure there. Gas is really high so people, like myself, may not be able to travel as often as they have in the past. Again though these things seem to cycle-and not jsut with the leadership in congress or White House. Another way to look at it though is if Obama or hill get in the office and raise our taxes as much as they are saying they want to who'll be able to go the the tourist areas then. If we are strapped now how bad will it be when our take home is even further diminished?
- Go back and look at how close the economy came to hitting rock bottom at the end of Clinton's reign.
- I agree with the first answer. If the Democrats are voted in you can bet the farm taxes will go up. And they will try to get that blasted national health care BS through too. Just one more step towards a welfare state Easter is earlier than usual this year, that may be part of it. And, yes, people are holding on to their money right now. We lived in and around Orlando for about 5 years. Maybe people are finally sick and tired of the gridlock on I-4 and stuff like that. I know we were. Drove on Indiana tags the whole time we lived there because they wanted a $400 "impact fee" to put Florida tags on an 18-year-old car coming in from out-of-state. What a load of bull. Nice to visit, but I wouldn't live there again. Too much like having Democrats in charge.
