Upcoming Foreclosures

How do I find foreclosures in Oregon (maybe Coos Bay) -- without giving out my credit card to a service?

My wife and I are moving back home from Tennessee to the Coos Bay, Oregon area and we would like to look at what foreclosures are available. I know there are several services that take your credit card and give you a list -- but I am wondering if there's an easier/free way to do it? I doubt a realtor is going to tell you because they work off a percentage and there really isn't a "seller". Do I go to the court house? A bank? Is there a government entity that handles this? Thanks for your time! Robert

  1. Foreclosures are listed at your county clerk's office and are a matter of public information. Many local newspapers carry foreclosure listings on specific days. contact your local paper for information.
  2. Here in Missouri you can get a list of the foreclosures at the County clerk's office. You have to realize, though, that if you want to buy on the courthouse steps that you have to have cash in hand. Typically you have to pay in full with cash within 24 hours of winning the bid. You can find REO properties - homes that are now owned by the bank that didn't sell on the courthouse steps - by finding a Realtor in the area. Ask them to give you a listing of all the REO or bank-owned properties in your price range. Good luck!
