- If he has any friends he could move in with them, if thats not an option then he has no friends.
- This is a tough situation. Has the bankruptcy hit his credit yet? Technically he can still get approved if he still meets the requirements until that bankruptcy hits the credit report. He just doesn't want to go into the leasing office telling them the situation up front because most places won't accept him if they know that. Reason being is that they are afraid he could add them to the bankruptcy. He may have a better chance finding something with a private landlord because not all of them check credit. Private landlord owns an individual property, so he may have a better chance of finding that. I hope this helps, good luck to your friend.
- I don't know if there are any specific places he can go that rent only to foreclosure victims. But he should be able to get an apartment pretty much anywhere that he wants. There are a few ways that he can persuade the landlords to accept him as a tenant, without having to worry a lot about the foreclosure and bankruptcy. First, he can explain up front to them about the situation, and that he had bad credit because of whatever financial hardship. Explain what happened, how he tried to deal with it, and why it never worked out. Most landlords will be sympathetic; he may want to try offering more as a security deposit or paying a few months' rent in advance, too. Extra money usually helps in every situation. Second, he can request that your credit not be pulled at all, for fear of identity fraud, privacy concerns, etc. In this case, he'll have to pay more on the deposit or pay rent in advance. But if he has the money to do so, then he can avoid any embarrassing disclosure of losing the home. In either case, make sure to dress well and clean up, so that he gives a good first impression. Landlords will be more willing to rent to people who have survived a financial hardship if they look professional and act courteous. Hope that helps. ForeclosureFish
