Upcoming Foreclosures

This is a question about Hurricane Katrina.?

These facts below I displayed to support my question. Why did our government choose to send trailers to Atlanta snd store ice when they coudl have used HUD to get people in the empty homes. You have an entire govenrment staff already in place selling hud homes. Why not have them get these people into a HUD Home. 1-You have staff in place 2- Any home lived in is an improvement compared to an empty home. 3- a percentage of people would become acclimated to that community and stay in the home in which case a Fannie Mae or other loan would be available to finance that home. 4. This would be a simple solution instead of trailers there were an estimated 374,000 hurricane Katrina refugees in shelters, hotels, homes and other housing in 34 states and the District of Columbia, according to the Red Cross and state relief officials. http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0912/p01s01-ussc.html 1,433,646 home available to date http://www.foreclosure. Lets understand the cost starting $105 billion . So not only am I a bleeding heart but anemic as well. Lets face facts Katrina is not a one time deal. Its coming back. Just a question of when. Maybe we can use an infrastructure we already have in place to solve the problem or does that make too much sense.

  1. Well thats easy! BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T DO ANYTHING WELL!
  2. Those who don't agree that morality and education being better than violence and crime, I would not want in my community (Bill Cosby Link below...) ...but, that goes for anyone, not just Hurricane Katrina victims... but most people cannot choose those that are in their communities. I understand that what the victims of Hurricane Katrina went through was incredibly traumatic. I don't know what I would do if I lost my home, and am in NO WAY belittling what they went through. But, I do know that many have made a life for themselves, or are working on getting back to New Orleans. Some even in my community have opened restaurants and other businesses with aid money they were given and have made a good life for themselves, and others have gone back to New Orleans, and are helping with the efforts there. But, for the ones who are CAPABLE AND WELL still living off the government? ANYONE who is perfectly capable of getting a job and supporting themselves shouldn't let the government and taxpayers support them. (not just Hurricane Katrina victims---ANYONE) Now, if those who are working and adding something positive to the community and are still having trouble finding a place to live, that's one thing...I agree with Mike K. below, anyone who would be willing to work towards something deserves to have the assistance. Do you know what HUD has done for the Katrina Victims? Like most of the entities involved, they could have signed off on the help a little faster, but even the governor and local government of Louisiana and mayor and local government of New Orleans could have done something quicker. They should have moved faster as well. And some didn't want to leave. ---------------------------------- Using an infrastructure already in place makes sense... BUT you can't just give houses to people who aren't going to get jobs and at least work to try to take care of themselves and their families. Again, like Mike K. said below, make it a rent to own situation. Have them sign something (like a contract...) saying they'll work and take care of themselves instead of relying on the government to do it. And, if they don't follow through with their part of the deal...you know, keeping a steady job, making affordable payments...then they don't get to keep the house. (unless there's some sort of REAL problem that prevents the capable person [or people] in the house from maintaining the agreement.)
  3. Why do you think the government owes the Katrina Trash anything? Was it the government that made them live in that sink hole known as New Orleans? These people should be out working, not living on the government dole watching Oprah! Enough is enough!
  4. The government should help them because they are forced to follow laws, pay taxes, get a drivers license to drive and all the other crap that the government requires. Why pay taxes if the government isn't going to help you.
  5. This is an interesting idea. I think that this would have been a good option with the following amendments: 1) Offer people HUD homes with the condition that they have to pay rent 2) Offer job search assistance and base the rent on that rate 3) Consider this a rent to own situation. With a minimum wage job, keep rent low, around $200 or something. It may take 300 years to pay off the house, but at least the people living there are working towards something. I can see a few benefits to this: 1) They can take pride that they are working towards something like home ownership. 2)The government would get lots of HUD homes off its hands, and would be receiving some money for them. 3)Welfare systems would have less strain by forcing people to work. 4)Businesses wouldn't have as hard of a time filling entry level jobs, and they wouldn't have as much turnover.
  6. uh barry ... Iwas in new orleans most decent people in new orleans had a running joke" thanks you houston " thank you for taking all the riff raff losers off of our hands do you know what a war zone some new orleans neighborhoods are ? the murder rate? some people stay on " welfare " for mantyy years due to their own actions and mentality so lay of the bleeding heart crap
  7. Why didn't the government try Ray Nager and Kathleen Blanco for years of stealing the funds and spending them on parties? Answer first questions first. It works out better that way. __________________________________ KrazyKyngeKorny(Krazy, not stupid) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
