Should the preamble to the constitution be changed to, "We the People, Inc."?
Is this pretty much the view of most of the politicians on Capital Hill today? With American jobs being shipped overseas, cheap illegal labor allowed to cross the border, tax cuts aimed at corporations, free trade agreements, etc. all the focus of government has been on corporate America for several years. In the meantime issues like health reform languish in congress, and home foreclosure rates hit the highest levels since the Great Depression while corporate profits soar to new heights. Do you think we should go ahead and change the preamble to read as the government sees it, "We the People, Inc."

- Great question!
- We, the Affluent People,,,
- Yes. And for every reason you stated above. I wish the american people would realize that we are only a product to the government. We are no longer individual people. They are also more than willing to throw any of us away if we have defects (such as disagreeing with them). It is ridiculous what we have allowed the Government to do to us, yet there is nothing we can do about it. I guess we could protest, but only if they give us a permit to do so, which they usually don't if you are protesting issues they would rather you not. *i.e. 9/11 truth movement*
- I think it should be We the Rich, White, Christian people of the United Corporation of America.
- You make an important point. Some will see your question as rhetoric or just an insult, but in fact the corporations have far more representation in Washington than citizens do. Corporate power has all but taken over the decision-making processes in the U.S. No individual can compete with the influence of that much money, not to mention the cronyism (which ALWAYS follows the money, and never ethics). But if I answer your question as stated, then I would say no. Don't change the preamble. Where there is life, there is hope, and I hope and pray that we (yes, We the People) may yet claim some of our right of representation back for ourselves. It is not too late.
