  1. http://www.nhmsi.com/ That's a legitimate site for HUD homes. .
  2. Your right sites do usually require membership so they can email you with updates, messages etc. www.bid4assets.com is a good site, ebay has some foreclosure/cheap properties other than that you could go to the county clerks office to see what foreclosures they have.
  3. The HUD government site offers links to all the states, no fees or membership required. For Maryland, go to http://hud1.towerauction.net/MD.htm You will need a HUD agent to submit your bid. This site will show you how to find a HUD agent and also offers good general education on buying HUD properties. Good luck.
  4. HUD in Maryland: http://www.hud.gov/local/index.cfm?state=md But HUD homes are pretty questionable. I would not recommend buying them unless you do thorough research and ROI analysis. Are you using it for rentals or for yourself? Also, there are foreclosures by banks that might be better. REOs are owned by banks or serviced by banks, and the biggest of them all is Countrywide/Bank of America. You can find the site here: http://www.investingwithoutlosing.com/2007/08/foreclosure-homes-how-to-find-bargains.html As I have warned others, you should not be jumping into foreclosures unless you know how to do proper due diligence. Read up on the law, or read up with a quick step by step book (recommendation below).
