Upcoming Foreclosures

isn't it against the law??

.. my house was in a foreclosure sale jan.8, 2008. i move out before that date... but i have some more possessions inside the property. since jan 8, i was calling my bank, to ask them when is my last day to stay in the house so i can get my other stuff, (because i need to schedule the pick up since i need help to carry the stuff)... then today jan 16, i stop by to pick up my stuff... i found that they change the locks and cleaned out the house and all my stuff is gone. they didn't inform us either.so what should i do? what is my right? please help? i am from california... thank you all. there was no eviction date yet.

  1. The time to actually reach a foreclosure sale in California is quite lengthy. The new purchaser has no obligation to store anything left in the house when they take possession. I think you are probably out of luck, but you can try to contact the lender and ask if you can recover your items, maybe they put them in storage.
  2. just go brake the lock open and get your stuff.
  3. I would call different lawyers in the area that give free consultations and ask them what your rights are. I know in VA we have what is called Legal Aid that would answer the question and give you some advice maybe you have one there. Also I know that when A judge gives the order for foreclosure they set the date and everyone has to follow that date. It seems like the bank would have to replace your things.
