Upcoming Foreclosures

foreclosure i new jersey. living in florida?

my question is this. I am being foreclosed on in new jersey. i own a home and now live and work in florida. what are the possible worst case scenarios for me. would new jersey laws apply to me now that i live florida. i know florida has tremendous asset protection laws. what can they do to me? /

  1. you need to discuss the specifics and complete details to a local attorney. They can and most likely would seek judgment for any balance due. In Florida judgments are valid for 20 years and can be renewed for another 20 years and/or place a lien on your current home, garnish your income and bank accounts. Employers are not thrilled about keeping employees who have wage garnishments. It creates a lot of extra bookkeeping and audits of the payroll.
  2. Even though you live in Florida, if the property being foreclosed upon is located in New Jersey, the foreclosure will occur in New Jersey and will be pursuant to New Jersey Laws.
