How long does a foreclosure take in Florida?
I am renting a house from people that have not paid their mortgage since September. I check the court records and no papers have been filed by the mortgage company. Today, a courier stopped by and delivered a note just asking us to call the mortgage company. I called and they would not give me any information because of privacy laws. I think I made a mistake in calling them, and now I'm a little nervous. Does anyone have any knowledge of long it can take to foreclose after the papers actually get filed?

- Ask the landlord what they plan to do. Some are working to redeem the property, others plan to let it go. A typical foreclosure can take 3 - 6 months.
- I know of someone that was living in a beautiful home and the same set of circumstances happened to them. I checked into it and it turns our they were able to call the bank and make arrangements to pay the rent directly to the bank. The bank did not want the home. They were interested in buying it within two years but their current credit needed work. The bank worked with them and gave them an awesome selling price as long as they purchased the home within two years.
